Celebrating 40 Years!
John Denison found that a way to make money to pay for college became a passion. He had a pickup truck named “Chuck” and a mower.
“He decided landscaping was the thing for him,” says Josh Denison, operations and human resources manager for the Ft. Washington, MD based operation and the son of the company founder. “His second year cutting grass, he had a customer ask him to plant some azaleas. He decided, ‘I like this planting stuff more than I like this maintenance stuff.’”
Over four decades later the company has more than 250 trucks on the road, trucks that drove a combined 24 million miles last year. Employees laid 18,197,000 square feet of sod.

What started out as a three-man operation has blossomed into a full-fledged landscaping company. “Today, during peak season we employ anywhere from 400 to 470 individuals,” shares Josh Denison, operations manager at Denison. “We have offices in Pittsburgh, PA, Delmar, DE, and Milton, DE. John Denison: 1955 – 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John P. Denison, the founder of Denison Landscaping and the face of the Company for over 45 years. John’s unwavering drive and dedication to the Company, its employees, customers, vendors, the Green Industry, and his surrounding community was truly incredible. Through his hard-work, John grew Denison from a single lawnmower to one of the top 25 landscaping business’ in the U.S. However, none of this would have been possible without your support and the continued trust that you placed in Denison over the years.
The Denison family and its employees intend to honor John’s legacy through our continued commitment to you. We remain dedicated to providing the best services, building lasting relationships, improving the surrounding community, and exceeding customer expectations.
